Overboard 04:35
OVERBOARD Breathe in and breathe out. Gold and silver lay me down. There's a light across the water Shining bright on the sea And it's bolder than the darkness Of a thousand fathoms deep. Even if black horses come for me All my tears roll into the sea Drawing my sweetheart closer And closer to me So let them haul me Overboard.

Black Horses 04:08
BLACK HORSES Even if Black Horses come for me... I'll wash my face in the rain I'll wash my feet in the waves There is courage at the waters edge To find my way home again. Nighidh mi m’ aodann san uisge Nighidh mi mo chasan 'sna tuinn An cois a’ chuain gheibh mi misneachd An saoghal seo fhàgail ’s falbh dhachaigh Ged a thigeadh eich dhubh’ air mo thòir Ruidhlidh mo dheòir dhan a’ chuan A’ sìor tharraing mo leannain nas dlùithe dham ionnsaigh Is slaodadh iad mise thar a cuairt-bheòil

Finlay Rise 06:28
FINLAY RISE Fall asleep With open eyes That burn like pyres on the beach. Let the tide take These bad dreams far from me. Before the dawn She will rescue me Before my light goes out at sea. Then wake with the taste Of tears and ashes on my cheek. Far from Finlay Rise Where only the mangroves creak and sigh A lost loves lullaby Calling me back from Finlay Rise Don't let me drown in torrid slumbers On Finlay Rise... Finlay Rise from canyons deep Don't sleep my dear Don't sleep. Send me a kiss in a shell I'll put it to my ear. What will I hear? And close my eyes and wake me up... Far from Finlay Rise Where only the mangroves creak and sigh A lost loves lullaby Is calling me back from Finlay Rise.

ALL THE WAY HOME I met a man with black coal for buttons I met a man with arms made from branches In a frozen garden When our cheeks were like roses And I want you to follow Through the fields that we worked on Over rock walls and stiles Past the horse in the stable All The Way Home... I can hear a train whistle blowin I can see smoke on the horizon And if we run we'll make it Yes I know we're gonna make it All The Way Home... To make a man with black coal for buttons To make a man with arms made from branches.

about

All The Way Home is an immersive tale of a love lost by the sea, found by the sea and brought home by the sea.

It is inspired by the two places I call home – The Isle of Skye where I moved with my parents when I was nine years old, and West Yorkshire on the Keighley Worth Valley Railway where I spent my early childhood.

The EP draws stylistically on the musical and geographical influences of these areas – the folk music of the islands, colliery brass bands, wide-open moors and mountains, the ocean and big horizons.

The title track is a safe return to dry land, and the wintry landscape of West Yorkshire. It is a childhood memory about heading home through snow-blanketed fields, the smell of steam train smoke hanging in the air, based on a piano and brass rendition of 'In the Bleak Midwinter'.
